THE CANYON: WAR AND NEW TALENT
The recent show at The Canyon featuring the group War was a packed house. The staff here as in other venues is not at full compliment due to impacts of Covid. This slows things up getting the audience in and seated we hope that the job openings here and elsewhere get filled soon!

The full house greeted the opening act Voodoo Sindicate and found they were watching a talent showcase of the lead guitarist Joel Soto who was standing in for Abraham Legaspi. Playing piano since 4 yrs old he has only been concentrating on the guitar since 2020! An unexpected treat in that at 13 you can only wonder with the way he plays now, where he will go if he decides to stay in entertainment. He also has begun to write original music. The covers of standard Rock tunes were played like a pro. This young man’s playing maturity belies his years in a way that is almost not noticed it is so natural. The only thing that would be more impressive would be a babe in diapers belting out Meatloaf tunes! But seriously it’s easy to forget he is 13. I think if he keeps going as he is that one should think of saving the poster for this show as it mentions Joel’s first appearance. You can find him also at Face Book.

War did not disappoint. Lonnie Jordon rode the audience excitement from the first song. The set had the favorites and hits and how could it not? A magical tour of my mind took place with the music striking various memories some I had forgotten. The audience was singing along and was part of the show. I seem to not be worrying about large crowds as much but am still feeling aware of Covid protocols. We all need to start getting out there and enjoy!
