Officially known as the National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement, Las Vegas’ The Mob Museum offers a deep dive into the shady and violent criminal history of a desert community that became Sin City.

Offering plenty of interactive exhibits and historic artifacts, not to mention a working distillery onsite as well as a swanky speakeasy, The Mob Museum offers a great escape from casinos and The Strip. Located in Downtown Las Vegas, this is a great way to gain an even deeper appreciation for Las Vegas and the glitz, glamour and gambling that built one of the world’s premiere destinations for nightlife.

From the birth of the Mob to today’s headlines, learn about G-Men and Made Men in this fascinating take of American history. Roam the confines of a former U.S. Post Office and Courthouse as you learn about the thrilling story of organized crime and law enforcement.

Through vivid storytelling, guests are presented with the facts, the fiction and the gray area in between — showcasing the events and characters that played an integral (and infamous) role in U.S. history. The Mob Museum seamlessly melds intrigue with explanation through four expertly-curated floors of interactive exhibits, multimedia displays, engaging artifacts and pop culture lore.

Guests use forensic evidence to solve real-life crimes in the Crime Lab, test their instincts in the Firearm Training Simulator and tease their palates sampling moonshine during the Distillery Tour. While in The Underground, located in the Museum basement, experience the sights, sounds and tastes of Prohibition-era living in the fully functioning Speakeasy – but only if you know the password.

Personally, I enjoyed time away from smoky casinos and the hectic Strip during my visit to The Mob Museum. Props to the powers that be that have been providing engaging storytelling that portrays the roots and evolution of organized crime in America, in an authentic and entertainment fashion, since 2012.

A stop at The Mob Museum is a good reason to hit up Downtown Las Vegas and festive Fremont Street. The distillery tour is another good reason to venture to these parts. The moonshine is pretty potent so consider yourself forewarned. It packs a mean punch but it’s a fun time as you try the different concoctions, which includes Signature Moonshine, Ginger Jake Moonshine, The Goodfella’s Vanilla Moonshine, Huckleberry Hideout Moonshine, and The Fuzz Moonshine. Hear stories about bootleggers, rumrunners and the government agents who tried to take them down.

The Las Vegas experience just got a whole lot more entertaining.

The Mob Museum is located at 300 Stewart Avenue. Open daily from 9am to 9pm. Call 702-229-2734.
