LA BOHEME IS A WEHO FAVORITE

Writer: Jose MartinezJose Martinez

The folks at La Boheme like to say the West Hollywood restaurant is where elegance meets indulgence. And since opening in 1991, it has been a destination for dining and drinking and good times.

Beloved for its oversized outdoor patio, this has been a go-to spot for al fresco dining long before the pandemic made it a trendy necessity. The outdoor dining area is the perfect place for weekend boozy brunch or a fireside elegant evening on velvet couches, and the interior is perfect for romance under crystal chandeliers.

During our recent visit for dinner, we started with an order of the cool crostinis (three for $15 or five for $23). These are absolutely delicious bite sized treats. The Prosciutto & Brie, French Onion, Flash Seared Filet Mignon, and Chicken Tinga definitely delight.

If you’re looking for small plates, the French Mac & Cheese Croquette with garlic, Roquefort cheese and chipotle aioli is a tasty treat, however, the Coconut Red Curry Mussels with chorizo and grilled bread is a favorite. You will ask for more bread as you want to soak up every delicious drop of the curry.

For Main Course items, you can’t go wrong with the Lamb Pappardelle as pasta and lamb along with tomato, onion, carrot, celery, red wine and parmesan will delight.

And if you’re not afraid of carbs, you may also want to consider the Wagyu Meatball Spaghetti featuring homemade meatballs in marinara, truffle Alfredo and parmesan. This dish is rich and decadent and dynamite!

And while I didn’t try the LB Bistro Burger (with brie, white cheddar, grilled onion, lettuce, tomato, sriracha aioli, and pomme frites) my eyes nearly popped out of my head as one went by our table. It looked phenomenal.

If you save room for dessert, the Crêpes Suzette are an Instagram favorite. The dish was too zesty for me but it’s worth it for the Gram. The Chocolate Croissant Bread Pudding is a definite crowd-pleaser.

At La Boheme, live entertainment is offered three nights a week with Piano Bar Thursdays, Jazz Fridays and Burlesque Saturdays. Monday nights it’s buy one get one free cocktail for WeHo locals. And Happy Hour is offered nightly—although only in certain areas on Fridays and Saturdays (and after 7pm).

For over 30 years, La Boheme has been a chic hot spot for good eats and good times. It’s a wonderful place to escape and indulge.

La Boheme is located at 8400 Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood. Open nightly from 5pm to close as well as on weekends for brunch from 11am to 3:45pm.  Call (323) 848-2360.
