K-BELLA PIZZA OFFERING GOURMET ITALIAN EATS

At K-Bella Pizza in Culver City, the mission is lofty—create the perfect pizza. Easier said than done, right? Well, kudos to entrepreneur Sara Lofton of Sara The Wine Bar fame and Chef Andy Barbato for mission accomplished.

“Our journey began with a vision to bring the authentic taste of Italy to your table,” says Lofton. “We meticulously select the finest ingredients and blend traditional technique with innovative flavors to craft pizzas that delight every palate.”

K-Bella Pizza is a fast-casual restaurant the offers Roman-style pizzas, focaccia sandwiches, traditional Italian plates, and desserts. The shop has become an area favorite for grab-and-go fresh fare as well as a cool spot for an enjoyable quick bite or, in my case, a long and lazy experience of delectable Italian eats.

We started our lunch with a solid Caesar Salad made with romaine lettuce, parmesan, croutons, and Caesar dressing. We also indulged and loved the Arancini—crispy rice balls with mozzarella served with a side of cacio e pepe sauce.

But let’s be honest, the pizzas are the stars at K-Bella Pizza—naturally. If you want to judge the quality of a pizza pie shop, get the Margherita. Here it’s basic and simple and delicious. Served with ingredients imported from Italy, this classic favorite is made with tomato sauce, mozzarella and basil and it’s out of this world good. Likewise, the Sausage pie with mozzarella, mushroom, red onions, sausage and balsamic reduction will knock your socks off.

The K-Bella signature pizza is owner Sara Lofton’s daughter’s favorite and its tomato sauce, mozzarella, pineapple, and pancetta (Italian bacon). Debates can start now if pineapple belongs on a pizza but we thoroughly enjoyed this one.

But my favorite pizza was the Mortadella Pesto with burrata, pesto, parmesan, mortadella (cured Italian cold cut) and pistachio. This dish was simply divine.

And don’t sleep on the paninis served with focaccia bread as they are stellar as well. Sandwich options include Meatballs, Caprese, Chicken Parmigiana, and Lamb Ragu. We loved the Lamb Ragu panini with lamb ragu, roasted tomato, mozzarella, and parmesan.

And while Sara is known and beloved for her wine shop, it should be noted that K-Bella Pizza does not sell any alcohol. So, either indulge in good, basic eats or take your meal home and enjoy with your favorite wines.

If you save room for dessert, outstanding options include Tiramisu, Bomboloni (Italian filled doughnut) with Nutella or homemade pastry cream; panna cotta, or Nutella Bites.

K-Bella Pizza is located at 11028 Washington Blvd in Culver City. Open Monday – Saturday from noon to close.  Call (310) 730-6150.
