MOTHER TONGUE RESTAURANT
SAY HELLO TO BOOZY BRUNCH HEADQUARTERS
I love a good boozy brunch and one of my main criteria, besides cool cocktails, of course, is a chill and chic setting. So, say hello to Mother Tongue Restaurant and get ready to elevate your brunch game.
The first thing that you need to know about Mother Tongue is how to find it. Located on the fourth floor of a grandiose gym on La Brea Avenue, head to the elevator found in the alley off Romaine Street. Then get ready to drink and dine in a festive and swank setting.
A new concept from award-winning Chef Michael Mina, Mother Tongue celebrates global fare with vibrant and clean ingredients that nourish the body and mind. See, since the building is basically a high-end gym, the food here tends to be on the healthy side.
According to the powers that be, it’s all about balance when it comes to the menu. Mother Tongue offers a curated dining experience that reimagines comfort food from around the world using modern technique, innovation and wellness practices with an emphasis on ingredients that have nutritional benefits while never sacrificing flavor.

Brunch offers indoor and outdoor seating. Dining al fresco includes city views adjacent to the gym’s rooftop pool. It’s a great place to brunch.
You may want to take advantage of the Rosé All Day option--$30 for all you can drink sommelier selected rosé wines served by the glass. Choose sparkling or still. Otherwise, opt for the Diane Mina’s Garden Grown Blends of Bloody Mary’s. Chose from original, classic, to dirty as well as a Bloody Maria with tequila. There’s also a Michelada for beer fans.

The Weekend Ritual Brunch consists of two courses for $39. Recommended starters include Avocado Toast, Overnight Oats, or Pacifico Striped Crudo. The Avocado Toast with blistered cherry tomatoes, pickled onions, and pistachio dukkah is a solid selection.

As for your entrée, I say go for the bad boy Breakfast Burger with fiscalini cheddar, mustard, fried egg, and charred avocado. It’s a winner that will make you say wow. The Wild Salmon Bowl with fried rice, ginger, miso, and an organic egg is a helluva healthy option. Other options include the Tofu Scramble or the Grilled Jidori Chicken. But I say if you’re shelling out bucks for boozy brunch, go big and get the Breakfast Burger and maybe all the rosé you can drink (after a Bloody Mary).

I love the setting here. It just screams vacation. And I really love the colors and laidback vibe. Day drinking here just seems like a good time.
