SECOND ANNUAL FEST SHOWCASES THE BEST IN RUM

Attention all L.A. rum fans! The folks at TheRumLab.com are proud to announce that the second annual Los Angeles Rum Festival, a/k/a SoCal Rum Fest will take place on Friday, September 8 at the Majestic Ballroom in Downtown Los Angeles. The boutique-style event will showcase a handful of brands that emphasize the education and premiumization of rum. I’ll drink to that.

Did you know that before the American Revolution, rum was the most consumed spirit among the colonies? And while the USA is considered one of the rum industry’s most significant countries, California alone is one of the largest rum consumer markets in the entire country.

The SoCal Rum Fest will offer guests the opportunity to attend the Grand Tasting as well as participate in numerous seminar events. The Rum Aficionados General Admission Tasting Session will take place from 6-9 pm. This three-hour program will offer attendees an exclusive tasting cup presented by The NEAT Glass, and will consist of premium rum tasting and consumer seminars.

Below are tasting sessions available to rum lovers.

VIP Rum Experts Session, 4-9 pm
VIP Rum Experts Session consists of a five-hour program offering the attendees the opportunity for early admission, an exclusive tasting cup by The NEAT Glass, premium rum tasting, and access to two VIP Seminars and consumer seminars.

VIP Rum Enthusiastic Session, 5-9 pm
VIP Enthusiastic Session consists of a four-hour program offering the attendees the opportunity to one-hour early admission, an exclusive tasting cup presented by The NEAT Glass, taste premium rums Access to one VIP Seminar (RSVP as space is limited).

The Spirit Of Haiti By La Maison & Velier (VIPs) 4:15 pm – 5 pm
Explore the Haitian terroir through its local spirit, Clairin. Learn about the categorical differences that make Clairin unique and the iconic styles of five single producers from five villages. Speaker: Johann Jobello

Jamaican Rum Leading the Charge By Nrj (VIPs) 5:15 pm – 6 pm
The spirit of the Caribbean, Jamaican rum leading the charge (VIP Seminar). You will learn about Jamaica’s history, cocktail culture, and more during this seminar. Speakers: Robert Gordon – Blender, Kimberly Williams – Master Blender Apprentice. Moderator: Adrienne Stoner

100% Estate Grown Rum, 7-7:45 pm
Today, many rum distilleries source their raw materials from other countries or other suppliers in their country. It’s rare to see 100% estate-grown rum brands/companies. During this seminar, you will learn about and taste 100% Estate exquisite rum.

The Holy Trinity and Other Tropical Potions, 8-8:45 pm
There is so much more to rum cocktails than lime and sugar. Rum cocktails and spirit drinks have captivating stories, beliefs, and histories attached to the islands they come from. In this seminar, you will dive into the past and learn about the ritual of rum drinks on various Caribbean islands. So next time you mix up a batch of cocktails, you’ll have a collection of stories to go along with them.

The Misconception of Spanish-Styled Rum, 9-9:45 pm
There’s a misconception of what and how a Spanish-styled rum must be made. During this seminar, attendees will be able to learn and understand that rums can be different in different Spanish-speaking countries. Three experts will explain and show how rum varies per country.

Los Angeles Rum Fest will take place on Friday, September 8 from 4-9pm at The Majestic Ballroom, located at 650 S. Spring Street. Must be 21 or over to attend.
