SORRY NOT SORRY
Owning and operating a restaurant in Los Angeles has always been a challenging endeavor. But during a global pandemic, during this current COVID-19 era, it seems like running uphill with heavy weights strapped to you. It’s tough.
Restaurateur and caterer Kim Vu found successful with her Vietnamese-inspired Khong Ten, but then rebranded and tweaked that concept into Sorry Not Sorry, a playful, rosé-wine and cocktail-forward beer garden and restaurant.
“We serve fresh takes on garden party menu classics and alcoholic beverages to-go,” explains owner Kim Vu.
Opened six months ago, Sorry Not Sorry in West L.A. was gaining momentum until it had to close due to COVID-19. Now, the 4,000 square-foot open air back patio is offering a "safer outside" space for guests to enjoy.
“After taking our time to meet all COVID-19 safety requirements and investing in a complete remodel of our back patio, we've just re-opened,” Vu points out.
If you’re looking for outdoor dining or to-go options, menu selections include grilled chicken, slow braised BBQ chicken, house-made sliced roast beef, as well as avocado toast. Side items include curried Israeli cous cous, turmeric garlic fries, summer watermelon salad, a “bomb ass” potato salad, and fried “Buffalo” cauliflower.
To-go cocktails are available in 16oz and fun-sized 32oz. Signature cocktails come as a double or in a pitcher. The to-go cocktails seem like fun options, including the Carrie and Mr. Big, which is a mix of bourbon, earl grey tea, bergamot, lemon and honey. The signature Sorry Not Sorry cocktail is a fun blend of still rosé wine, tequila, lillet rosé, and lemon.
Currently, all guests must use the rear entrance in order to control capacity. And masks are required in order to enter the facility and guests must wear a mask when not actively eating or drinking. In addition, all guests will have their temperature checked and there is mandatory hand sanitation upon entry. Also, all guests must sign a contact tracing form which certifies that the guest (to their knowledge) is not having illness symptoms or has been exposed to COVID19 recently.
This is a really strange time and some people just aren’t comfortable dining out these days, but I have to hand it to Sorry Not Sorry for taking all the appropriate steps to ensure a safe experience. And for those who still don’t feel ready to venture out just yet, the to-go options seem like solid choices to ensure a good, safer at home time.
Sorry Not Sorry is located at 11520 W. Pico Blvd in West L.A. Open Thurs-Fri from 5pm to midnight; Saturday from noon to midnight; and Sunday from noon to 8pm. Call 424-832-7000.
