DELFINI CITTA
FINE ITALIAN DINING, BAR & PIZZERIA OPENS IN BEVERLY HILLS

The latest restaurant from the fine folks at Caffe' Delfini, a West Side favorite for over 20 years in the Santa Monica Canyon, looks to be a sure fire winner. Their new Beverly Hills restaurant is called Delfini Cittá and it offers fine Italian dining, an impressive yet welcoming bar scene, and a first class pizzeria.

Located at the former site of Porterhouse Bistro, a long time personal favorite for a quality steak, the new Delfini Cittá really improves on the space. Most notable is the expanded bar, which now offers a vibrant bar scene that was lacking before. Colorful and playful in décor, old black and white Italian movies are shown in the bar creating a fun atmosphere that even Mad Men’s Don Draper would appreciate.

The restaurant is basically divided into three sections; there’s the bar, which is perfect to drink and enjoy tasty small bites; there’s a causal pizzeria perfect for lounging and to savor authentic, Italian-inspired pizzas in a more casual setting; and then there’s the fine dining room where guests can relish favorite Italian dishes.

During our recent visit, we opted to sit in the elegant dining room and started with a hearty Caesar salad, followed by the inventive and wonderful Zinguine, which is a light pasta dish made out of zucchini. This is the perfect plate to satisfy your pasta craving without all the excess carbs. With a zesty sauce and vegetables thrown in for good measure, this was an instant favorite.

Taking advantage of the pizza kitchen, we went with the highly recommended Patate & Rosmarino Pizza. This pie, made with potato and rosemary, is hearty and delicious. Paired with a nice glass of wine, this is all you need for a wonderful evening, but we didn’t stop there.

For our entrée, we went with the chef’s special, Branzino with Potato. The European seabass was light and fluffy and was a great alternative to more filling and high-calorie options, but just as delicious.

That made the idea of dessert not so guilt-ridden, which was perfect when a decadent and delicious Cannoli came our way. I simply couldn’t resist pairing it will a small glass of Limoncello, just as if I was back in Rome.

But the final touch of the evening, courtesy of the kitchen and not of our own choosing, was the pièce de résistance, a completely out of this world Nutella Pizza. What a treat! The combination of the light and fluffy dough with the sweet taste of the hazelnut spread was phenomenal. Definitely make sure to save room for this decadent treat during your visit. It’s a must-have. Boy, was I glad I had the Zinguine and Branzino earlier in the evening.
