MELODY BAR & GRILL
REVAMPED, RENOVATED & RELAUNCHED

Our friends at the very cool Melody Bar & Grill have been busy updating the Westchester watering hole since our last visit. Home to first-rate food, the award-winning Guitarology Wednesday night series which recently saw guest appearances by members of Maroon 5, as well as actor George Segal, and now Retro Lounge Tuesdays featuring The Tony Guerrero Quartet and their swingin’ jazz from the Atomic Age, the Melody is your west side destination for good times and hearty cuisine.

Looking sleek and modern out front, gone is the shabby barfly mystique, although it still looks like you’re walking into a bar-bar if you enter through the back. Although there is something really hip about a seedy dive ambiance, once you walk in it’s nice and plush with giant indoor fireplace and a front row view of the airplanes landing from the airport a mere stone’s throw away.

Established in 1952 the original bar & grill remained a prominent steakhouse through the 1980’s, afterwards it became a local sports bar well known for attracting members of both the Lakers and the Kings hockey team. Enter new owners Christian Warren and Bobby Hughes and the new and improved Melody Bar & Grill features savory food and popular entertainment.

“We aim to create and maintain a friendly neighborhood vibe where everyone who comes in feels welcome and comfortable,” the owners state. “We strive to keep our concept fresh and on the cutting-edge of the hospitality and entertainment industry.”

I recommend starting any visit to Melody with a cold glass of their very own Melody Blonde (California Honey Blonde Ale). It’s a personal favorite and something you can only find there, along with their popular Melody Hef.

A phenomenal recent Appetizers addition is the tasty Bacon Wrapped Dates. Flavorful and scrumptious, I bet you can’t eat just one. And lucky for you several come with each mouthwatering order.

Another new favorite are the BBQ Sliders prepared with fried tomato, bacon and caramelized onions. What a treat! And the side of Sweet Potato Fries is just an added delight.

And if you’re really hungry for dinner, the new entrée items will definitely do you right. The Coffee Crusted Flat Iron Steak with a lemon Beurre blanc sauce, served with spicy green beans and a baked potato is top notch. The tender steak is given a real zesty flavor thanks to its coffee crust. It’s truly original and satisfying.

The Grilled Rib Eye with cracked black pepper and six chili infused sea salt seaweed with spicy green beans and baked potato is scrumptious. Served sizzling and spiced to perfection it’s delectable.

And if you’re looking for a non red meat option go for the Chicken Parmesan served on a bed of Angel hair pasta topped with vodka sauce served with spicy green beans. Filling and flavorful you will want to make sure you devour every last drop of the tangy vodka sauce.

In addition to cool live music Tuesday and Wednesday nights, stop by for Margarita Fridays where from 4-7pm margaritas, including Apple, Raspberry, Peach, and Classic, are $5 and only $12 for pitchers.

Stiff drinks, delicious eats, chill vibe and cool entertainment, make your next stop a Melody Bar & Grill visit.

The Melody Bar & Grill is located 9132 S. Sepulveda Blvd by LAX in Westchester. Hours: Open daily 11:30AM – 2AM. Call 310-670-1994. Free parking in the back.
